Airbnb is considering launching an airline as a step to transform itself from a home-sharing app to an all-round travel conglomerate (Sunday Times 25 Feb 2018).
Brian Cheskey the founder states " Of all the big tech companies, the way Amazon has approached building their business to a one-stop shop for shopping is probably most similar to what we are trying to do. We want to be a one-stop shop for travel."
Then analyse Amazon's acquisition of Ring as a step on dominating the connected home.

The surprise acquisition marks the latest move by the Seattle-based tech giant into the smart home technology market. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Reuters puts the deal at more than $1 billion. Amazon is expected to treat the Ring deal similar to past acquisitions such as Zappos, Twitch and Audible, pursuing product and feature integrations where appropriate but maintaining the Ring brand and largely allowing the company to continue operating as it has in the past.
